Using iTunes 'File Sharing' with ReadingPlan
With ReadingPlan 2.1 or later, iOS 3.2 or later, and iTunes 9.1 or later, you
can use iTunes to add, delete, and edit ReadingPlan files. Please follow the
steps below.
- Make sure ReadingPlan is closed, or open to the main screen only. In particular, exit 'Settings' if necessary.
- Launch iTunes and connect your device.
- In iTunes, select your device and click the 'Apps' tab (if present).
- Scroll down to the 'File Sharing' (or just find it on the left panel) and select 'ReadingPlan' in the 'Apps' window.
- Add or delete ReadingPlan files from the 'ReadingPlan Documents' window
on the right. You can edit a file by saving it to your desktop, modifying it as desired,
and copying it back.
- Disconnect your device from iTunes.
- In ReadingPlan, visit 'Settings', then 'Reading Plan' to load your changes.
Notes
- ReadingPlan files use a simple text format, described here.
- Use the 'Add' and 'Save To' buttons (in iTunes) to copy files to and
from the app. Drag and drop also works.
- Delete an item by highlighting it and pressing Delete.
- If a new or modified file is not visible in ReadingPlan, there is a problem
with the file format. Feel free to contact
support@pricejh.com with any questions.
If you're using older versions of iTunes or iOS and can't install a custom or modified
file as described above, please feel free to email me at the above address -- I will be
happy to post your file on the app's web site so that you can download it into the app.
