Col 1:13.   Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: John 8:34,36.   Jesus answered them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whosoever committeth sin is the servant of sin. ...If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Rom 6:6-7.   Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For he that is dead is freed from sin.
